Collection: Kala Stein

Kala Stein is an artist, designer, and educator known for large-scale ceramic installations and limited-edition design objects. Working where craft, design, and sustainability meet, her practice reflects a deep engagement with environmental change, atmospheric mapping, and the shifting beauty of the natural world. International travel and teaching have shaped her perspective, informing a body of work that expands the language of contemporary ceramics through inventive processes and systems of making.


Stein has received a National Endowment for the Arts Grant with her Co-Lab group and teaches widely at institutions around the world, including Alfred University, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, La Meridiana International Ceramics School in Italy, Menlo Studio in Jingdezhen, The Cool Projects in Greece, Sonoma Ceramics, and Diablo Valley College. She holds an MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a BFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She is also a newly appointed member of the International Academy of Ceramics.
